   WHO AM I

Hey!  My name is Amanda Benson!  Since high school, I have wanted to be a teacher for missionary kids.  After completing my student teaching at Faith Academy, I knew I wanted to go back long term!  Now God has provided me this opportunity to return long-term as a missionary with SEND International!

I grew up in Brandon, SD.  After graduating high school in 2005, I went to college at Grace University in Omaha, NE.  Here I completed my bachelors degree in Middle School education, focusing in Math, Language Arts and Social Sciences.  I also received my Bible degree.  To complete my requirements for student teaching, I was able to go to Faith Academy for the Fall of 2009.  I spent five months there teaching both 6th and 7th grades, though I primarily worked with 6th grade.  I loved it!

As I came back from the Philippines, God opened up an 8th grade math position in Eagle Butte, SD, which is on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation.  Two weeks after returning from the Philippines, I moved out to Eagle Butte and taught there for  5 1/2 years.  I was involved in many aspects of the school and my church.  God also allowed me to receive my masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Math Specialist, from Black Hills State University.  This has helped me improve my teaching in many ways!

Even though I loved Eagle Butte, God made it clear that it was time for me to return to Faith Academy.  I am excited for the ministry I will now have as I educate the children of missionaries, discipling them to walk with the Lord on a daily basis.
